The Kendo UI for jQuery Grid supports foreignKey columns. ForeignKey columns are helpful when you need to bind the column to
an ID field while displaying a text value instead. When the Grid is editable
, the
foreignKey
column will automatically render a DropDownList component as an editor.
This demo showcases how to bind the foreignKey
column to a local array of data.
The array must contain objects with two fields—value
and text
. These fields hold the value
that will be set to the underlying dataItem
and the value that will be displayed in the cell
respectively.
This Grid example is part of a unique collection of hundreds of jQuery demos, with which you can see all Kendo UI for jQuery components and their features in action. View the source code of the demos from the library or directly adapt, and edit them and their theme appearance in Kendo UI for jQuery Dojo or ThemeBuilder.
