The Kendo UI for jQuery DropDownList enables you to render a series of two or more DropDownLists in which each DropDownList is filtered according to the selected options in the previous DropDownList.
This demo shows how to enable the cascading functionality by defining the cascadeFrom
property, pointing to the Id
of the parent DropDownList. Thus, the data in each DropDownList is enabled and filtered based on the selection in the previous DropDownList.
The child DropDownList takes the following actions during initialization:
- Enables the cascading functionality only if the
cascadeFrom
property is set. - Tries to find the parent object.
- Listens for changes in the parent value.
- Remains disabled if the parent has no value.
This DropDownList example is part of a unique collection of hundreds of jQuery demos, with which you can see all Kendo UI for jQuery components and their features in action. View the source code of the demos from the library or directly adapt, and edit them and their theme appearance in Kendo UI for jQuery Dojo or ThemeBuilder.
