Egypt Explorer

Get ready to feel small. Exploring Egypt will put you face-to-face with the ancient Egyptian civilization and their colossal structures—awe-inspiring monuments to the pharos and the gods. Egypt is best known for the Great Pyramids at Giza. The three pyramids—Cheops, Khafre and Menakaure—and the Sphinx are majestic icons of Egypt. However, there are actually over 100 pyramids in Egypt, many of which remain relatively unknown to anyone who is not an ancient Egypt enthusiast. There are tons of temples and ruins to discover and some can only be reached via watercraft. A general rule of thumb is to join a group tour. This will reduce the hassle of negotiating taxi rates and help you fend off solicitors once you reach your destination. You’ll want to check on travel advisories to be sure that you’re travel plans are well timed so that you can enjoy this amazing country to its full potential.

It was a honeymoon to remember and to a great extent we owe it to TripXert. Between the view, the food, the room, and service this was my best hotel experience so far!

Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx

Between negotiating transportation costs and all the other transactions being offered to a tourist visiting the Great Pyramids—camel rides, etc.—you’re best off taking a guided tour in a group to avoid all the haggling. There are actually over 100 pyramids in Egypt but the Pyramids of Giza—being one of the Seven Wonders of the World—are the most famous.

Temple of Isis

Isis is a very important figure in the ancient world. She is a giver of life, healer and protector of kings. The Temple of Isis is located at Philae in Egypt so you have to travel there by boat. There are still many ruins on the land but the most prominent is this particular temple, built for Isis, the primary goddess of the sacred island.

Temple of Horus

Located on Edfu, along the Nile, the Temple of Horus is considered to be the best-preserved temple in all of Egypt and, therefore, worthy of a visit. The stories covering its outer walls have provided information that has been critical to our understanding of ancient Egyptian religious and political thought.

Location

Edfu is on the west bank of the Nile, about 115 km south of Luxor and 105 km north of Aswan

Abu Simbel Temples

The Abu Simbel Temples are located in Southern Egypt on the west bank of Lake Nasser. The temples are notable because they were moved in 1964 to make way for the Aswan Damn. The Great Temple has four colossal statues carved out of living rock—the majesty of which is nearly overwhelming.

Temple of Hatshepsut

The Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut is situated beneath the cliffs at Deir el Bahari on the on the west bank of the Nile near the Valley of the Kings in Egypt. It is dedicated to Amon-Ra, the sun god. The temple was built in alignment to the winter solstice sunrise. On this day of each year, the sunlight penetrates through the back wall and elsewhere through a light-box to shine on various statues one at a time.
